Abstract

In this interview with Prof. José Carlos Chiaramonte, a very prominent figure in Argentine historiography of the last half century, some significant moments of his vast experience as a teacher and researcher are revealed. In particular, the interview revolves around his inquiries into the historical framework of the political and economic ideas that circulated throughout the American lands in the 18th and 19th centuries, which converged in important publications carried out by Prof. Chiaramonte from 1960 onwards (whose bibliographical references are collected at the end of the interview).
